Emily & Kevin’s Wedding at Alexander House, Perthshire
I was so happy to be photographing a wedding so close to home. Emily and Kevin’s day at Alexander House — just ten minutes from Auchterarder — felt familiar in the best possible way, yet full of moments that still managed to surprise. As a documentary style wedding photographer in Scotland, these are the days I’m always drawn to — relaxed, emotional, and quietly beautiful.
Morning chaos made perfect
Walking into morning preparations, it was everything you’d expect — and everything you hope for. The warmth of hair curlers, dresses hanging in soft light, laughter echoing through the rooms, and little ones either having the time of their lives or staging full-scale protests on the floor.
It’s that perfect kind of chaos that somehow always comes together — natural, unfiltered, and full of energy. These early moments are always a favourite, setting the tone for the rest of the day and allowing me to capture everything exactly as it unfolds.
A Different Kind of Groom Prep
It’s always refreshing to see a tuxedo make an appearance — a quiet shift from the familiar kilts and tartans, and such a timeless look. A lovely reminder that Scottish weddings can take many forms, each bringing its own sense of style.
The boys brought their own kind of atmosphere: relaxed, sharp, sunglasses on, whisky in hand… effortlessly cool without trying too hard.
A Light-Filled Ceremony in the Orangery
The ceremony took place in the Orangery, filled with the kind of bright, soft light that makes everything feel like summer — no matter the season.
Emily was walked down the aisle by both of her parents, looking truly stunning. And Kevin… well, he held it together just about — apart from one small moment that didn’t go unnoticed (only by my lens 😉).
Their ceremony, led beautifully by Vivienne Hyndman, felt personal, warm and full of meaning — exactly as it should. It’s spaces like this that make Perthshire wedding photography feel so effortless, where light and setting work naturally together.
Confetti, Celebration & The Start of the Day
Sprinkled in confetti and surrounded by their favourite people, Emily and Kevin were announced as husband and wife — a moment filled with joy, laughter, and that unmistakable shift into celebration.
Guests moved into the drinks reception where they were treated to a wonderful mix of flavours and atmosphere — from incredible catering by Friskyhaggis, to the beautifully styled bar by Rustyhoof. The setting felt relaxed, sociable, and full of life.
Music carried gently through the day with Robbie Wisniewski, setting the tone before the evening picked up pace with Drambougie, bringing energy to the dancefloor.
And for something a little different, the photobooth van from My Wedding Cars added a playful touch — always a favourite for guests.
Natural Moments at Alexander House
Alexander House offers the perfect balance of elegance and openness, with beautiful surroundings and views stretching out towards the hills. It’s a venue that allows the day to unfold naturally — giving space for moments to happen, rather than forcing them.
For couples looking for a more refined yet relaxed atmosphere, it brings that subtle sense of luxury wedding photography in Scotland without ever feeling overwhelming — just thoughtful, well-paced and beautifully set.
Only at Alexander House
On my way through the grounds, I had to stop — because something completely unexpected caught my eye.
The Highland cows.
Not just standing there looking majestic… but running, playing, almost dancing across the fields. I genuinely had no idea they could be so playful — it felt more like watching a group of dogs than cattle.
One of those small, surreal moments you don’t plan for, but somehow becomes part of the story. And honestly… something you’ll probably only ever see at Alexander House.
I rarely get these but here is me working along, during this wedding I was accompanied by a colleague Chris who was my second, it was great to see me in Action!
One Last Walk Before the Evening
Sometimes, just before the evening truly begins — before the music lifts and the dancefloor fills — it’s worth stepping away for a moment.
We took one last walk.
The light was low, golden, almost slipping away behind the trees. Emily and Kevin moved quietly together across the grass, hand in hand, with that soft stillness that only exists at the end of a wedding day. No rush, no direction — just the two of them, soaking it all in.
This is the kind of moment I’m always drawn to as a documentary style wedding photographer in Scotland — the in-between, the unspoken, the real.
The kind of moment you don’t plan for, but always remember.
The sunset wrapped around them gently, turning everything warm and weightless, as if the day itself was slowing down to let them breathe it in one last time before the celebrations carried on.
Moments like these are what make Perthshire wedding photography feel so special — where space, light and atmosphere come together so effortlessly, creating something that feels both natural and quietly refined.
And sometimes… those are the moments that stay with you the longest.
