Ryan & Ashleigh’s Laid-Back Piperdam Resort Wedding
Ryan and Ashleigh’s wedding at Piperdam Resort had everything I love about a wedding day: family, plenty of laughter, thoughtful details and a relaxed atmosphere that allowed everyone to be completely themselves.
From the beginning, the day felt personal to them. Soft-pink flowers and bows, carefully chosen stationery and warm fairy lights filled the venue, but the Highland-cow wedding cake and cupcakes may have stolen the show. Every detail had character, without anything feeling overdone.
A warm, family-filled ceremony at Piperdam
Their ceremony had such a lovely atmosphere. The timber walls, soft draping and warm lights made the room feel cosy, with their favourite people gathered closely around them.
There were emotional moments, but nothing felt too formal. There were hugs, laughter and lots of little family interactions unfolding throughout the ceremony. It felt less like everyone had come simply to watch and more like they were all part of it.
Feeling matters more than being perfect
Ryan and Ashleigh told me that they felt a little awkward in front of the camera. Honestly, I hear this all the time.
Most people are not used to having a camera following them around, and they do not need to know how to pose. With a little gentle direction, some time together and space to settle into the moment, the nerves soon disappeared.
And they absolutely smashed their portraits — especially that dip shot!
We wandered through the Piperdam grounds for family photographs, relaxed wedding-party pictures and some quieter portraits beside the water. With its trees, open grounds and peaceful loch, Piperdam gave us plenty of variety without taking the couple away from their guests for too long.
The good kind of wedding-day chaos
This wedding was full of life.
From the big group photographs and the kilted wedding party to the very serious sunglasses moment, there was always something happening. The candid laughter in between the planned photographs is what made the gallery feel so much like Ryan and Ashleigh.
Their guests were not there simply to watch the day unfold. They were right in the middle of it — laughing, hugging, celebrating and adding to the brilliant energy around them.
The reception carried on in exactly the same way. Soft-pink details and fairy lights brought warmth to the rustic room, while everyone relaxed and enjoyed being together.
A Piperdam wedding that felt completely like them
Ryan and Ashleigh’s wedding was a lovely reminder that beautiful photographs do not depend on having a perfectly posed or overly polished day.
They come from feeling comfortable, enjoying the people around you and trusting that the real moments are more than enough.
